Recently, Dato’ Tan Pei Ing, former Secretary-General of the International Union of Architects, former President of the Architects Regional Council Asia, and former President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), along with Thomas Cheung, Vice President of Region C of the Asian Architects Association and Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, visited China Construction Engineering Design & Research Institute (CCDC) and Yuan Ye Architects in Beijing.
Zhao Weiyong, General Manager of CCDC, warmly welcomed Dato’ Tan Pei Ing and Thomas Cheung, recalling the pleasant experience of visiting and meeting with the Malaysian Institute of Architects during his short-term work in Malaysia and Indonesia in March this year. During the talks, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on strengthening technical cooperation and promoting market expansion in Southeast Asia. Zhao Weiyong stated that CCDC remains committed to providing high-quality products and services to international architectural markets, including those in Asia, and embraces new opportunities for international cooperation with an open attitude. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with Asian architectural peers to explore innovative design concepts, promote sustainable industry development, and contribute architectural wisdom to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Dato’ Tan Pei Ing expressed gratitude for the invitation from CCEDRI. She shared Malaysia's achievements in green building and smart city development and conveyed her desire to deepen cooperation with CCEDRI in public architectural design and sustainable urban development, hoping to jointly advance progress in Asia's architectural industry.
Following the meeting, Dato’ Tan Pei Ing and her delegation visited Yuan Ye Studio. Dr. Yuan Ye provided a detailed introduction to the studio's working methods and design philosophy through multimedia presentations and physical models, showcasing award-winning representative projects completed in recent years. Subsequently, both sides engaged in lively discussions on topics such as green building innovation and the integration of Asian cultural heritage with contemporary art.
This visit enhanced mutual understanding between CCEDRI and the architectural institutes of Malaysia and Hong Kong, China, establishing a new platform for collaboration between Chinese architectural design enterprises and Asian architectural academic institutions. It holds positive significance for promoting the shared development of the architectural industry across Asian countries and regions.
