The 28th World Congress of Architects China Pavilion Tour Exhibition (China Construction Design Stat

On November 14th, the opening ceremony ofthe 28th World Congress of Architects China Pavilion Tour Exhibition (ChinaConstruction Design Station) and the Architect Academic Salon were grandlyopened in the central exhibition hall on the sixth floor of Block A of ChinaConstruction Design and Research Institute. The exhibition is co-organized bythe Architectural Society of China, the Beijing Municipal Planning and NaturalResources Commission and China Construction Design and Research Institute Co.,Ltd., and organized by the Architects Branch of the Architectural Society ofChina, the Registered Architects Branch of the Architectural Society of China,CITIC Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Beijing KaixinUrban Development Consulting Co., Ltd. Dr. Yuan Ye presided over the openingceremony and the Architects' Academic Salon.

Jointly organized by the InternationalUnion of Architects (UIA) and UNESCO, the World Congress of Architects is heldevery three years and is the world's largest architectural event. In July thisyear, at the 28th World Congress of Architects held in Copenhagen, Denmark, theChina Pavilion showcased 176 projects from 31 domestic design units with thetheme of "Sharing, Symbiosis and Cohabitation", focusing on the sixcategories of Beijing and the Architectural Society of China jointly biddingfor the UIA Conference, urban design renewal and protection, public buildings,residential buildings, rural revitalization and cutting-edge innovation,showing the achievements of China's contemporary architectural practice, andhelping Beijing successfully bid to host the 30th World Congress of Architectsin 2029.

"The 28th World Congress of ArchitectsChina Pavilion Touring Exhibition" is a series of academic activitieslaunched as the "World Capital of Architecture" after Beijing'ssuccessful bid, which provides ideas and references for more intelligent andgreen technologies in China's construction industry by recording and displayinga series of creative, exploratory, open and interdisciplinary design practices.The exhibition will be launched in many places across the country in the form ofa touring exhibition, and has been completed at the China International Fairfor Trade in Services, the 2023 Architectural Society of China Academic AnnualConference and the 4th Zhengzhou International Urban Design Conference, theBeijing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission, and BeijingArchitectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Li Qi, Secretary of the Party Committee andChairman of China Construction Design and Research Institute, delivered anopening speech, extending a warm welcome to all the guests and expressing hisheartfelt thanks to the Architectural Society of China and the BeijingMunicipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission for their trust andsupport. Tao Zhihong, second-level inspector of Beijing Municipal Planning andNatural Resources Commission, Wang Xiaojing, deputy secretary-general of theArchitectural Society of China, Cui Tong, national engineering survey anddesign master, chief master of China Architecture, and chief architect of ChinaConstruction Design and Research Institute, and Ye Yiqian, secretary-general ofthe Architect Branch of the Architectural Society of China and executive chiefarchitect of Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute, deliveredspeeches at the event, expounding the great significance of the World Congressof Architects for deepening international exchanges and cooperation from theirrespective perspectives. The future development prospects of China'sconstruction industry and architectural design creation are prospected. XiaoWei, Deputy General Manager of CITIC Architectural Design and ResearchInstitute and Chief Curator of the China Pavilion of the 2023 World Congress ofArchitects in Copenhagen, made a guided introduction, reviewing and summarizingthe exhibition results of the China Pavilion of the World Congress ofArchitects. Yuan Ye, chief architect of China Construction Design and ResearchInstitute, presided over the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, the participatingleaders jointly unveiled the traveling exhibition of the China Pavilion of the28th World Congress of Architects (China Construction Design Station) andannounced the official launch of the exhibition. At the Architect AcademicSalon, Ma Long, Chief Architect of Beijing Architectural Design and ResearchInstitute, Xiao Wei, Deputy General Manager of CITIC Architectural Design andResearch Institute and Chief Curator of China Pavilion, Zhang Yinxuan, DeputyChief Architect and Professor-level Senior Engineer of Li Xinggang Studio ofChina Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Gao Fan,Senior Architect of Local Design Research Center of China Architectural Designand Research Institute Co., Ltd., shared their experiences and insights onparticipating in the World Congress of Architects Exhibition in Copenhagen.Subsequently, the sharing guests and the participating architectrepresentatives had a heated academic exchange and discussion on the theme of"Sustainable Future". In a relaxed and happy atmosphere, thearchitects discussed the path of sustainable development of architecture fromthe perspectives of concept, technology and practice, and imagined a"sustainable future" for Beijing with the vision of becoming the"World Capital of Architecture" in 2029.

Finally, Tao Zhihong, the second-levelinspector of the Beijing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission,and Wang Xiaojing, the deputy secretary-general of the Architectural Society ofChina, respectively summarized the event and highly affirmed the academic valueof the event. Tao Zhihong said that Beijing's bid to host the 30th WorldCongress of Architects in 2029 is to achieve two goals: first, to promote thetransformation and upgrading of the industry, strengthen internationalexchanges and cooperation, and demonstrate the cultural confidence of theconstruction industry in the new era; The second is to promote Beijing to builda model of urban construction in the new era in practice and form Beijing'surban temperament.

The Traveling Exhibition of the ChinaPavilion of the 28th World Congress of Architects not only built an importantplatform for architects to stimulate innovative thinking and promote academicexchanges and cooperation within the industry, but also stimulated heateddiscussions among architects on exploring the path of sustainable urbandevelopment.
